Peter Forsberg

THE TRUTH IS…PHILADELPHIA MAY NOT BE THE BEST FIT FOR FORSBERG…
THE FLYERS ARE VERY DEEP DOWN THE MIDDLE…WITH MIKE RICHARDS…DANIEL BRIER…AND JEFF CARTER…
IF FORSBERG DOES SIGN WITH THE FLYERS…HE WOULD BE FORCED TO PLAY ON THE WING…
THANKS TO THE FACT FORSBERG IS AN UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENT…THERE WILL BE NO SHORTAGE OF TEAMS WITH AN INTEREST…
COLORADO…DETROIT…AND OTTAWA ARE ALL EXPECTED TO MAKE A PITCH…
THE REASON IS SIMPLE…
AT 34 AND HEALTHY…FORSBERG CAN STILL BE A FORCE…
LAST SEASON HE MISSED 25 GAMES WITH A NUMBER OF INJURIES AND STILL COLLECTED 55 POINTS IN 57 GAMES…
THAT’S BEEN THE KNOCK ON FORSBERG…HE CAN NOT STAY IN THE LINE UP…
THE LAST TIME PETER FORSBERG PLAYED A FULL 82 GAME SEASON WAS 1995-96…
NEVERTHELESS…IF FORSBERG IS READY TO PLAY…
THEN EVERY GENERAL MANAGER IN THE NHL…WHO BELIEVES HIS TEAM IS A CONTENDER MUST MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO SIGN FORSBERG…
THAT INCLUDES THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS…
TO START WITH THE CANUCKS HAVE THE SWEDISH CONNECTION…WITH 5 REGULARS IN THE LINE UP…
SECONDLY…GOALTENDER ROBERTO LUONGO GIVES THIS THE CANUCKS A CHANCE TO WIN EVERY NIGHT…
THIRDLY THE CANUCKS HAVE ROOM UNDER THE CAP…
THERE IS ALSO THE ISSUE OF THEIR T.V. NUMBERS…
THE CANUCKS ON ROGERS SPORTSNET ARE DOWN 20 PERCENT FROM A YEAR AGO…AND NEARLY 30 PERCENT FROM THE PRE-LOCKOUT SEASON OF 2003-2004…
FORSBERG WOULD CERTAINLY TURN THAT AROUND IN A HURRY…
ULTIMATELY PETER FORSBERG WILL DO WHAT HE BELIEVES IS IN HIS BEST INTEREST…
BUT RIGHT NOW IT’S THE JOB OF GENERAL MANAGER DAVE NONIS TO MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO CONVINCE FORSBERG THE CITY OF VANCOUVER IS JUST THAT…

Making a big move by buying a big name like Forsberg is exactly what the nucks need. with all that young talent coming talent coming in as of late, i think a strong veteran presence like Forsberg would really give the team a jump before playoff season. The other guy coming up for trade that the team should look at is Sundin. He has become a Canadian hockey icon and would defiantly boost the ratings. the only think i am weary about is that he may become to much of a leader on the team. thats right, he may change the synergy on the team which doesn't necessarily need to be changed at the moment (at least this year). I like the way the team is going and wouldn't want a single trade to influence the franchise in that way. which is why Forsberg is the better pick.

Yes i've witnessed a dramatic decrease of viewers. I have many friend who call them selves big canucks fan's, however they fail to tune in game in and game out. They rather wait for exciting playoff hockey. Now, it wasn't always like this. I remember just a few years ago when the west coast express had teams and fans buzzing though the leauge. I am almost certain that the ratings were higher then. So yes a big name such as Sundin or Forsburg would most def. have an impact on t.v ratings. And on the team i'm certain. I can only hope that Nonis is seriously persuing one of these players. There is no better time then now, if he's at all serious about winning Hockeys biggest prize.
